Sketching Ellipses “Gettin your wheels right”
So this starts to get a little more difficult . Now we will try some ellipses. This is the foundation for drawing cars. Wheels are used for stance and proportion. If your wheels are not done right the vehicle will not look good. So it is very important that you practice this skill. So to start out we will draw various sizes of ellipses. If you want to know more about the technical side of the ellipse and how they work as the wheels on a car please see the other video I have placed here “Drawing Wheels on a car”. Thank you very much Frank. Much appreciated. It’s an honor I get to do this kind of stuff for a living. So I try to give back some.
Greetings Master!
Just wanted to thank you for these great tutorials and inspirations you put time to spread on the internet! they’re great, and I personally can’t wait for some rendering tutorials, I love your style on how you present your sketches.
Thanks again,

I am glad your enjoying them.
Hi Dwayne,
Another great tutorial! Your work is very inspiring and thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills.
Did you rotate you tablet while drawing the ellipses?
Actually I just rotate the template. However you can rotate the tablet but much easier to do it with the template 🙂
By template you mean canvas, right?
One question, I have been able to draw my circles/ellipses with relative ease for a while, however, there has been one question on the back of my mind for a while and I figured it would ask it now. Does it matter whether you draw a circle clockwise or counterclockwise? I noticed that you are right handed and draw clockwise, is this normal, easier, or is it just preference? Thank you for these videos they help a lot.
No I guess it just felt the most natural. As long as you can draw a nice ellipse I don’t think it matters on which direction you choose.
